Thriving Week
This week has been about learning what thriving means and how it relates to our lives. The students have been taking part in activities related to; yoga, food, and friendship. The highlight of the week was the sports morning on Friday.
Please Note
We have two short weeks. As such the children's spelling loads have been halved so they don't have too many words to learn in such a short space of time.
Congratulations

Happy Birthday This Week
Group working
Each week the students get into various groups to practice their reading comprehension skills. Children learn new words as they read. Subconsciously, they absorb information on how to use words and other language features effectively in their own writing and communicating.
Maths Patterns
For maths, the students now understand how to continue repeating patterns with arrangements with shapes and colours. We talked about reasoning involved with these patterns, such as; colour sequences and repeating number sequences.
Inventors
Year 2 has begun their exploration into forces and motion in their "How the World Works" unit of inquiry with the central idea that People apply their understanding of forces and energy to create and invent. This unit will be developing their understanding of how forces can change the shape, direction, and position of objects. They will also inquire into how simple, compounds and complex machines are used in daily life to make people's lives easier.
A huge thank you to all of you for your support on sports day. It was a fantastic day and we couldn’t have asked for better weather! The children showed fantastic sportsmanship skills we are so proud of them all.
Well done to yellow team, who came in first.
But more importantly – everyone had fun!
